10 ways video can skyrocket your business in 2023

87% of consumers say they want more videos from brands (WyzOwl, 2023). I’d argue that in 2023, businesses who don’t implement a video strategy will leave significant profits on the table, or worse, be left behind.

Today, I want to break down 10 ways any business can use video to hit, or exceed, their goals for 2023.

#1 - The Brand Story Video

This is generally my favorite place to start with any business that wants to incorporate video into their marketing strategy. A brand story video is a short, 1-3 minute video that clearly communicates Who you are, What you do and What value you provide, Why you do it, How you do it, and How someone should contact you. A brand story video, done right, will differentiate your business from the competition, create an authentic and emotional connection with your audience, which ultimately builds trust.

#2 - Repurpose Your Brand Story Video for Website Use

Once you have an effective brand story video, I recommend repurposing pieces of it throughout your website to grab attention, increase the perceived value and quality of your brand, and further educate your target audience. For example, creating dedicated videos for each page of your website (i.e. “services”) using the footage from your brand video.

#3 - Video Testimonials

Authentic video testimonials from real clients/customers is the BEST way to sell your product or service. It’s basically word of mouth in video format that can reach a broader audience. Add video testimonials to your website and marketing strategy, and you’ll see huge increases in conversions from customers that are on the edge of doing business with you.

#4 - Virtual Hiring / Recruitment Videos

It’s 2023, and virtual meetings are unavoidable, but why waste time repeating the same information when you can email around one video link, to tens, hundreds, or even thousands of people? Recording your message once and having the ability to share it quickly and easily will free up tons of your time and money. Similar to the brand story video, virtual hiring videos allow you create a desirable perception around your company to attract ideal candidates.

#5 - Training Videos

Training videos are great for onboarding new employees. Training a big expense for organizations, so why repeat the same information when you could record it once, and give your employees the flexibility to go through the material at their own pace? Additionally, it can serve as a resources that employees can go back to for learning. This will end up saving you a lot of money in the long run.

#6 - Social Media Videos

Social media can be headache if it’s not something you’re well versed in. The various platforms can be intimidating and confusing, but it’s extremely important to cater content to each individual platform, as one size does not fit all. Each platform has specific styles of content that will work best.

  • YouTube: This is my favorite platform for generating traffic towards your brand because it’s the only one that is SEO-based. When people watch your videos on YouTube, you are retaining attention of viewers, so Google in turn, rewards that with driving your website search to the top of Google listings.

  • Instagram + Facebook: These platforms are great if you’re planning to run paid advertising campaigns. They give you the ability to target specific audiences, which you get to choose. These platforms are NOT as good for generating organic (non-paid) traffic as YouTube, because it is not designed around SEO. To win on these platforms requires a strategy that involves more consistent/daily posting.

  • Linkedin: This is the platform you want to focus on if you’re a B2B company. LinkedIn still has some of the best “reach” out of all the platforms (a.k.a. The greatest # of people will see your content). Share your brand story video, recruitment videos, and testimonial videos here.

  • TikTok: For better or for worse TikTok has become one the largest social platforms in the world, currently at 1.53 billion users as of 2023. For the right type of business and with some creativity, TikTok can be extremely powerful. From doctors, to lawyers, to restaurants and photographers, I’ve personally seen careers skyrocket basically overnight.

#7 - Welcome Videos

These videos are great in creating a connection with current and new customers as they show level of authenticity to your brand, increasing customer loyalty. When someone opt’s into your Newsletter, for example, this could prompt an email with a video attached thanking them for joining, and letting them know of all the resources you have to offer. Customers appreciate that personal touch and premium feel.

#8 - Tutorials / Educational Videos

Tutorials are very powerful and underrated tool for your business. Too often customers have the same questions over and over, and producing step-by-step videos that walk customers through a product or service is very valuable. Tutorials are still relatively rare, which means you’re going to stand out that much more. You’re letting your customer know that you truly care about them, and are going to personally invest to give them the best experience with your business as possible.

#9 - Product Videos

This mostly applies to product-based businesses, but could be translated over to service-based as well. Create videos outlining features your product has, in short, bite-sized videos (less than 1 min). Nobody wants to read through a long list of features or benefits. But everyone will play an engaging 30 second video to learn about a product they might be interested in purchasing. Despite being short, these types of videos allow you to showcase a level of creativity that can make your brand stand out.

#10 - Case Study Videos

Case Study Videos are the ultimate extension of Testimonial videos. Say you capture an incredible testimonial, but want to go even deeper. This could be a scenario where your customer had a great experience and had superb results. You can touch on finer details and metrics that solidify you as an industry leader and highlight your relationship.
